A man riding his bike was killed Monday morning after being hit by a SMART train in Santa Rosa, according to authorities.
Just before 10:30 a.m., the man, believed to be in his 30s, was hit by a southbound train at the Piner Road crossing, between Bay Village Circle and Coffee Lane, according to police.There were two crew members and three passengers on the train, none of whom were injured, SMART officials said.
The collision led to significant train delays during the investigation and a bus bridge was set up to move transit riders around the intersection.
The cyclist wasn't carrying identification and police are trying to figure out who he was.
No other details were released.
