I was at the farmers' market last weekend and I was astounded by how busy it was, how active it was, how full and vibrant it was. I mean, we're in Sonoma County in the middle of winter and yet we've had some warm days. We haven't had too many freezing nights and we grow so many things that are delicious. I have a friend who had a greenhouse in the northeast of America and by mistake it opened up when it was snowing outside.
He lost 90% of what was in there, but what was left because of the cold was extremely sweet. Apparently, cold makes green things sweet. So, this is a time to explore maybe a leaf or a root that you never had before. To go to the farmers market, talk to a farmer and get some great delicious winter food. Savoring Sonoma, I'm Clark Wolf for KRCB.
